Unroll what?
Oh wow, I never knew that you could put a twist on the classic Pipe Dream. It turns out you can put more than one. As much as Unroll Me has a rather uninspired title, the gameplay makes up for it.
What you have in Unroll Me is a series of puzzles in which you have to guide one little metal ball from its entry point to the designated exit. However, instead of discovering and rotating blocks, you move them around, just as you would in a sliding-numbers-puzzle.
What's great about metal balls is that, unlike green sludge, they don't block the tiles they travel through. This means that you can rearrange the tiles behind it, and even re-use them further along. Parts of the solution can include moving tiles along with the McGuffin.
The real difficulty of the game, however, rests with finding the optimal method of transportation. Whether you should put all pieces in their place, or re-use them as much as you can, the shorter the number of moves, the better the score will be.
Unroll me features four regular difficulty categories, but there's also a fifth category in which you need to take care of more than one ball at a time. They call it "Frantic Fun," and it is, as long as you keep your adrenaline in check.
Final Thoughts
I must admit I'm having a lot of fun trying to beat the clock on every level, although it often gets very tense. I wouldn't call this game "relaxing" by any stretch of the meaning. Even the early levels sometimes manage to make my blood rush.
